Air dried beef basturma has a distinctive, aromatic smell and taste thanks blended spices mix coating called chaman that is applied on top of the meat.
It is believed that basturma was invented in an ancient kingdom of Armenia with first records of it mentioned between 95 and 45 BC. It is also a very popular product in Turkey (pastirma), the counties of Central Asia, the Balkans and in the other countries that have Turkic/Ottoman culture influence.
Basturma is enjoyed as an appetizer and pair with a glass of a red wine or a beer. It is also used for cooking dishes like: fried eggs for breakfast, borek pastry or a traditional stews.
Ingredients: fenugreek, cumin, salt, garlic, nitrite salt, paprika, chilli powder, sugar, black pepper.
